Pelliaceae

The liverwort family Pelliaceae includes thalloid species which are mainly found in moist, shaded habitats such as stream banks and forest soils (Crandall-Stotler et al., 2009). Species like Pellia epiphylla are known for their simple thallus morphology and their ecological role in soil stabilization and moisture retention (Paton, 1999).
